As you enter, your senses might be overwhelmed. With a wooden entrance, high ceilings, massive columns, white cloth on wrought iron and chandelier lighting, the scenery can be breath-taking. Authentic Brazilian music is projected throughout the venue. By the time you've given your attention to the hostess waiting to seat you, you begin to smell an array of aromas permeating the restaurant.

DOWNTOWN NORFOLK got a bit of Brazil when Espeto na Brasa opened on Granby Street last year. Native Brazilians Alex De Paula, his brother A.J. and their mother, Maria Hastings, opened a traditional Brazilian steakhouse in the grand old building, that had previously been Station II. The structure, dating back to 1908, shows its rich history with marble floors, mahogany columns and double mezzanines.
